Colorizing a Black and White Photo
I wanted to give colorizing a try, but with some purpose.
I remembered that I had taken a photo… of a print… of my grandparents on their wedding day. When I saw this print for the first time it was only a few years ago, I didn’t know my grandparents well and I met my great uncle only once as a child. I loved the photograph, so elegant, so sincere, so perfectly balanced between natural or staged. When I briefly got to see more of my late great uncle’s work, I felt so grateful to be able to see how he saw through his camera, his imagination and prints. So good! Some of his photos, I don’t have them here, but some of his photos are black and whites that have been tinted and given color and I think it’s really neat to share that interest with a distant relative.
It’s also wild to see so much of your’s and your parent’s features in the faces of your grandparents.
